a) Development Responsibilities
Requirement Analysis:
Gather and analyze business requirements through collaboration with stakeholders.
Create functional specifications and documentation.
System Development:
Develop new, or enhance existing, processes, workflows, and forms.
Testing and Quality Assurance:
Develop unit tests, integration tests, and system tests to ensure the quality of developments.
Conduct reviews and peer testing sessions to identify and fix issues.
Documentation:
Create and maintain technical documentation for system architecture, APIs, workflows, and user guides.
Document process design with comments and maintain a version-controlled repository.
Deployment:
Prepare and execute deployment plans, including rollback strategies.
Performance Optimization:
Monitor system performance and identify bottlenecks.
Optimize design and database queries for efficiency and scalability.
b) Support Responsibilities
Technical Support:
Provide first-level support for end-users experiencing issues with developed systems.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems in a timely manner.
Incident Management:
Log, track, and manage incidents using ticketing systems.
Prioritize incidents based on severity and impact on business operations.
System Monitoring:
Monitor application performance and availability using monitoring tools.
Respond to alerts and notifications for system outages or performance degradation.
Maintenance and Upgrades:
Regularly update and patch software to maintain security and functionality.
Implement system upgrades and enhancements based on user feedback and evolving requirement
User Training:
Conduct training sessions for end-users to improve system understanding and efficiency.
Create user manuals and training materials to facilitate knowledge transfer.
Collaboration with IT Teams:
Work closely with system administrators, network engineers, and ICT support teams.
Participate in cross-functional meetings to discuss system improvements and user needs.
Feedback Collection:
Gather feedback from users to understand system limitations and areas for improvement.
Analyze user behavior and system usage metrics to inform development.
Incident Reporting and Analysis:
Prepare incident reports and conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues.
Develop solutions or workarounds to prevent future incidents.
Compliance and Security
Ensure that developed systems adhere to security best practices and compliance standards.
Collaborate with security teams to conduct vulnerability assessments.
Change Management:
Participate in change management processes to assess risks associated with system changes.
Communicate changes and updates to relevant stakeholders

Minimum requirements
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, Computer Science, Information technology, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Computer Studies or equivalent
2 – 5 years minimum relevant experience
Training required :Relevant system certification, e.g. relevant to SharePoint Online and Microsoft Power Platform.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE
Possesses specialist knowledge of software applications relevant to their area of responsibility, e.g., SharePoint Online and Microsoft Power Platform.

Experience:
At least 10 years’ experience in research or knowledge-based organisations, of which 5 years must be in a senior research management position in RDI and / or commercialisation.

The successful candidate will have to acquire (through measurement and observation), collate, analyse, model, interpret and report mineralogical data (numerical and image based) for purposes of research or commercial service, according to predetermined time and cost schedules, and in compliance with Mineralogy’s quality standards. The candidate will be required to actively seek new income and opportunities for intellectual capital development.
Job description
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
Assist Head to maintain and expand on project work from the mining/ metallurgical industry and related research agencies, in line with Division’s current business plans, by providing competence and professional expertise, and interacting with clients, collaborators and potential partners.
Ascertain industry needs and propose appropriate project work to obtain insights from mineralogical data, in consultation with senior staff.
Execute projects so as to meet the time scheduling agreed to with client/stakeholder, contain costs for the Division and deliver valid conclusions with technical efficiency and professionalism.
Lead and execute projects in which interactions with technical expertise and stakeholders are required at a professional level. This will involve algorithm/software development to extract appropriate information, and modelling, simulation and interpretation of mineral behaviour in processing and other environments using, primarily, image inputs from mineralogical equipment.
Comply with the internal administration requirements of Mintek and MNL with respect to labour and machine time capture, business governance, professional reporting, project planning and management.
Ensure that safety, health, environment and quality procedures are followed and project work is executed to produce valid conclusions and with maximum overall efficiency – technically and financially.
Ensure that the documentation of work and procedures is appropriately captured and produce advanced professional level reports, algorithms, publications, and conference contributions.

Minimum requirements
Qualification:
MSc in Geology or equivalent. (PhD will be advantageous).
Experience:
1 year or more of experience with mineralogical techniques and data interpretation for mineralogy applications in geology and beneficiation.
Understanding of mineralogy instrumentation data outputs and/or data analytics techniques (Matlab, Python, R, Image J, VG StudioMax, Aviso, etc.).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Drafting proposals that meet client/stakeholder objectives.
